Coaching Stream: Performance Stream
Course Duration: The B Licence program entails a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 18 months of work. In 2020, the B Licence will be delivered exclusively via video mentorship. This includes the following:
Course Description: The B Licence workshop is the first step on the Performance Stream pathway and prepares the coach to progress to the Canada Soccer A Licence. The B Licence continues the facilitation of learning opportunities so that the coach may work effectively with senior players in the Performance Stream.
Candidates will apply the knowledge gained on the course in their club or academy environments over a 12 to 18-month period. Demonstrations of competency will be submitted via video for review, which will allow coaches to work with their own players in their club environments. Ongoing engagement in the online, in-class and on-field experience is required.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the B Licence, the coach will be able to demonstrate the competencies associated with coaching and managing individual players and small groups of players in the Performance Stream, including designing, delivering and reflecting on all aspects of on and off field activities.
Licence Validity: The B Licence is valid for a period of five (5) years. At the end of the 5-year validity period, the B Licence may be renewed by following the Canada Soccer Maintenance and Renewal process.
Target Candidate: The target candidate for the B Licence is currently coaching players aged 18+ in a University, College or Club/Academy environment.
Admission Process: Applications will be accepted up until the closing date. After that date, the applications will be reviewed, and the preferred candidates will be selected and offered a place on the course. Selected candidates will have seven (7) days to accept their place on the course and pay the course fee in full.
If a selected candidate rejects their place on the course, it will be offered to the next suitable candidate.
Cost Includes: Access to Canada Soccer’s online learning management system; Canada Soccer branded Nike kit (not including boots and trainers); access to Canada Soccer’s session planning software (1-year subscription); Respect in Sport Activity Leader program; review, feedback and evaluation of all course content.
