Vanessa Gilles wins the Coupe de France féminine

Vanessa Gilles won her first club title with Olympique Lyonnais at Stade de la Source on Sunday 14 May. The Canadian centreback won the 2023 Coupe de France Féminine following a 2:1 win over club rivals Paris Saint-Germain.

This marks the 10th Coupe de France féminine win for Olympique Lyonnais since the competition was founded 22 years ago. Olympique Lyonnais currently sits at the top of the standings in Division 1 Féminine with a 13-match win streak.

Gilles joined Olympique Lyonnais on a season loan from NWSL club Angel City FC in September 2022. Her first goal with Lyon cemented her as the 100th goal-scorer in the history of the club with a 36th minute header against ASJ Soyaux. Gilles and Olympique Lyonnais currently have two more matches until the season ends on Saturday 27 May.

Gilles from Ottawa, Ontario has made 25 international “A” appearances for Canada Soccer’s women’s National Team. She was 23 years old when she made her debut for Canada on 10 November 2019. She has an Olympic gold medal with Canada at the Tokyo 2020 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in 2021.
