Canada Soccer launches new ‘Battle of the North’ long-form content series

A docuseries that will bring fans behind-the-scenes of the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship

As part of Canada Soccer’s ongoing changes to its social and digital content offerings, today the Federation announced the launch of its second Canada Soccer Originals series. The new four-part long-form content series entitled Battle of the North, presented by TELUS, will for the first time, dive into never-before-seen moments and spaces of the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship.

“One of our recent strategic decisions was a commitment to have our digital content better reflect the entirety of our sport’s ecosystem nationally. This new series, highlighting our national club championship, is a first for our organization and a purposeful step towards telling more of our unique Canadian soccer stories,” said  Paulo Senra, Canada Soccer’s Chief Communications and Content Officer

Canada Soccer Originals — launched last month — is a new and exciting shift towards the production of long-form content, built specifically for Canada Soccer’s YouTube channel. The new docuseries will include four episodes, recapping all four rounds of the national championship, from the preliminary round to the final.

The annual battle for the Voyageur’s Cup is the nation’s highest men’s domestic competition featuring clubs from coast to coast, notably professional teams in Major League Soccer and the Canadian Premier League, as well a representative in League1 BC, League1 Ontario and Ligue1 Québec. Since 2008, Toronto FC leads the way with eight championships, CF Montreal have been crowned five times, and the Vancouver Whitecaps three times.
