Canada’s National Futsal Team will look to qualify for the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship this week. Coming off a 3:0 friendly win against Honduras in Costa Rica, Head Coach Kyt Selaidopoulos’s squad play USA on 4-5 May at BN Arena in San Jose. The top four of the eight countries that compete in the CONCACAF Futsal Championship will qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Columbia 2016.
The 3:0 friendly on 1 May gave Selaidopoulos and his squad of 14 players a boost heading into the matches against the Americans. The players have been training twice daily since arriving in San Jose on 28 April after multiple camps in April.
Canada’s only previous FIFA Futsal World Cup appearance came at Netherlands 1989 as a young squad led by Bob Lenarduzzi finished third in Group C of the opening round.
