Toronto FC wins 2017 MLS Cup at home

Toronto FC have won the 2017 MLS Cup with a 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders FC. MLS Cup Most Valuable Player Jozy Altidore (67’) scored in the second half and Victor Vazquez (90 +4’) sealed it with a goal in injury time.

Toronto FC who were the MLS Supporter’s Shield winners as the team with the best record in the MLS regular season, capped a recording-breaking, treble-winning season in 2017. Already Canadian Championship winners earning their place in 2018 CONCACAF Champions League, their 69 regular season points set an MLS record.

After appearing in MLS Cup 2016, the rematch performance against the Seattle sounders earned Toronto FC their first, and Canada’s first MLS Cup after they fell 1-0 in penalty kicks at BMO Field last year.
