RECAP: Day 5 from the Challenge and Jubilee Trophy competitions

Jubilee Trophy

 

Scarborough GS United won the 2018 Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships Jubilee Trophy defeating Surrey United 1:0. Quebec’s Royal-Sélect Beauport earned the Bronze Medal defeating Newfoundland & Labrador’s Holy Cross FC 6:1. Alberta’s Edmonton Victoria SC took fifth place with a 7:2 victory over Halifax Dunbrack SC from Nova Scotia. Saskatoon SK Impact FC defeated Fredericton Picaroons Reds 3:0 for seventh place. Royal-Sélect Beauport’s Karyna Fiset earned the tournament Golden Boot honours with five.

 

Scarborough GS United (ON) 1:0 (a.e.t) (BC) Surrey United

 

Laura Callender scored in the first half of added extra time to give Ontario the 2018 Jubilee Trophy victory. Surrey United earn the Silver Medal for the second year in a row.

 

Royal-Sélect Beauport (QC) 6:1 (NL) Holy Cross FC

 

Karyna Fiset scored three goals, Daphnée Blouin, Kim Tremblay, Joëlle Mercier each had one for Quebec. Holly O’Neill scored for Newfoundland & Labrador.

 

Edmonton Victoria SC (AB) 7:2 (NS) Halifax Dunbrack SC

 

After winning four of the last five Jubilee Trophies, Edmonton Victoria finished in fifth-place.  The match was tied 2-2 at half when the floodgates opened. Heather Young scored two, and Kristyn Shapka, Heather Lund, Laura Kautz, Tori Martyn, and Maggie Zacsko had singles for Alberta. Jenna Boudreau and Kaitlyn Macissac scored for Nova Scotia.

 

Saskatoon SK Impact FC (SK) 3:0 (NB)Fredericton Picaroons Reds

 

Erica Hindmarsh, Elizabeth Hudon and Michelle Keene scored for Saskatoon SK Impact FC.

 


Challenge Trophy

 

Caledon SC will face Surrey BC Tigers Hurricanes in the 2018 Toyota National Championships Gold Medal Final at the Challenge Trophy competition.  In the Bronze Medal match, Saskatoon Revolution will play Holy Cross SC. Royal-Sélect Beauport and Edmonton Scottish SC face off in the 5/6 match. Fredericton Picaroons Reds and Yellowknife YK Galaxy FC round out the placing matches.

Digo Gonzalez scored four, Jeffrey Gonsalves scored two, and Austin Whissell, Jeffrey Alves, Jordan Piccinin, and Michael Pennio scored for Caledon who qualify for the Challenge Trophy Gold Medal Final. Agnel Poruthur had an own goal for Northwest Territories.

 

Surrey BC Tigers Hurricanes (BC) 4:0 (NB) Fredericton Picaroons Reds

 

Nicky Soolsma had two, Pavi Dhillon, and Ryan Dhillon scored for British Colubmia who will play in the Gold Medal Match on Teck Finals Day.

 

Saskatoon Revolution (SK) 2:1 (AB) Edmonton Scottish SC

 

Mitchell Bauche and Garrett Peters scored for Saskatoon Revolution. Samuel Lam scored for Edmonton Scottish.

 

Royal-Sélect Beauport (QC) 2:2 (NL) Holy Cross FC

Jake Warren and Sean Henderson scored for Newfoundland & Labrador. Thomas St-Maurice scored twice to bring Quebec back.
