RECAP: Day 3 from the 2018 Toyota National Championships Challenge Trophy

With the Jubilee Trophy on a break on Day 3, the Challenge Trophy competition is heating. Group A and B winners will face off on Teck Finals Day in the Gold Medal match. Ontario put themselves in good position atop Group B with a 2:0 victory over Holy Cross and are now three points clear of Quebec. In Group A, the hometown Saskatoon Revolution sit on top after defeating New Brunswick 2:0.

Group A

Edmonton Scottish SC (AB) 1:0 (NS) Western Halifax FC

In a battle of the two most recent Challenge Trophy winners, Edmonton Scottish earned a 1:0 victory in a game that saw four sent off. Haris Kevac scored to seal Alberta’s first win of the tournament.

Saskatoon Revolution FC (SK) 2:0 (NB) Fredericton Picaroons Reds

Revolution earned Saskatchewan’s first win of the tournament.  Midfielder Mitch Bauche was all over the pitch for Revolution, scored the winner on an excellent volley he teed up for himself.

Group B

FC Winnipeg Lions (MB) 10:0 (NT) Yellowknife YK Galaxy FC

Manitoba defeat Northwest Territories 10:0. Brendan Rattai scored three, Krzysztof Szulc and Hugo Figueiredo scored two, and Aaron Hidalgo-Mazzei, Adam Hajkowski, and Seifeddine Dhaoui scored one goal each.

Caledon SC (ON) 2:0 (NL) Holy Cross FC

The Ontario champions handed Holy Cross their first loss.  Caledon has yet to concede after three matches. Diego Gonzalez and Jeffrey Gonsalves scored for Ontario.
