Frederick Alfred Barter... he was 32 years old when enlisted for the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force on 30 November 1914 in Montréal, QC... he served in the first Great War with the 23rd Westmount Rifles... he was discharged with the rank sergeant on 2 July 1918... was 74 years old when he passed away in Battersea, London, ENG on 10 February 1956... was a journalist with the Montréal Herald newspaper...

served as the first President of the Dominion of Canada Football Association (1912-13)... honoured as a Canada Soccer Life Member...

upon quitting football activities in 1913, he said “I came into it with clean hands, I go out of it with clean hands”... said Football Association of Canada Secretary-Treasurer George Anderson at the 1956 Annual General Meeting, Barter “took a keen interest in what he called “His Baby” right to the end”...
