John Monaghan... born +/- 1898... he moved to Woodfibre, BC in 1920... as noted in 1927 by the Cumberland Insider, “our contention of months ago that he is the best wing half in the Dominion of Canada”... as noted in 1927 in the Toronto Telegram, Monaghan was “credited with being the finest and cleanest half back in British Columbia; he made a good impression in last year’s Dominion finals”... as described in 1927 after a match in New Zealand, he displayed a “nicety of judgement with his passes”... wrote Vince Leah in 1976, he was “immaculate”...
