Gary Grant Thompson... speaks English... soccer family (brother Wayne)... his father was born in Halifax, ENG while his mother was born in Duff, SK, CAN... grew up participating in soccer, baseball... he was nine years old when he started playing soccer for Fraserview United in Vancouver... he started playing soccer as a goalkeeper, but then switched to forward... growing up, favourites included Ken Pears, Pelé, George Best... worked as a school teacher in Coquitlam...

represented Canada in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, Olympic Qualifiers and one edition of the Pan American Games... career 15 international appearances across seven years from 1971 to 1977 with Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team, including seven international "A" appearances...
