Ottawa Fury wins U-17 championship

The Ottawa Fury U-17 Girls won the 2010 Super Y-League North American Championship. The Fury won 3:0 over the London Gryphons in the Tuesday 23 November 2010 championship final. It marked the first North American championship for the Fury organisation.

Lauren Hughes of Orléans, ON scored two goals in the final. Hughes scored in the 19th and 41st minutes. Marissa Duguay of Quispamsis, NB then made it 3-0 in the 83rd minute. Goalkeepers Rachelle Beanlands and Elizabeth McDougall posted clean sheets for Ottawa.

"This was a storybook season with a fairy tale ending," said Ottawa head coach Jimmy Zito.

"This championship is the culmination of eight seasons of dedicated work by all our coaches, players, parents and staff," said Ottawa Fury Owner and CEO John Pugh. "They all share in this success which we believe will be the first of many more."

Ottawa’s lineup featured Lauren Hughes, Abbey Lindblad, Breanna Burton, Marissa Duguay, Melisa Erturk, Taylor Piovesan, Rachelle Beanlands, Alex Skeggs, Joanna Lynch, Laura Callender, Kodi Cumming, Elizabeth MacDougall, Madison Allen, Lauriane Brissett-Lesage, Brianna Boutzivious, and Amy Hockings.
