Ontario and BC Final set at Challenge Trophy in St. John’s

With four straight shutouts, Ontario’s Ottawa St. Anthony are set to face Surrey’s Central City Breakers on Teck Finals Day at the 2019 Toyota National Championships Challenge Trophy competition. Ontario defeated Quebec setting up a Group B battle for the Bronze Medal match between Nova Scotia’s United DFC and Kodiak Charlesbourg. Fredericton Picaroons look to lock up second place in Group A against winless Holy Cross.
Group A – Surrey Central City Breakers (BC) 1:1 (AB) Edmonton Scottish
Surrey’s Caleb Clarke (71') put British Columbia ahead but Oshane Hyltron (81') earned a point for Alberta. With the point, Surrey secures top spot in Group A and a berth in the Gold Medal Match on Teck Finals Day.
Group A – Fredericton Picaroons (NB) 5:3 (MB) FC Northwest Winnipeg
David Itoafa (9’, 31’) and Kenny Morrison (21’, 60’) each had two goals as New Brunswick moved into second place in Group A. Yousa Nikyonkuru (73’) also scored for Fredericton. , Manitoba clawed back with goals from Krystozf Szulc (35'), Anthony Lourenco (43') and Braden Hidalgo Mazzei (58') down to 10 men for the final 30 minutes of the match.
Group B – United Dartmouth FC (NS) 5:0 (NT) Yellowknife YK Galaxy FC
United DFC got a pair of goals from Adam Miller (2', 17') and Oscar Marshall (50' 84') and Callum Thompson (42') added a fifth. Jensen Brown earned the shutout.
Group B – Ottawa St. Anthony ON 1:0 QC Kodiak Charlesbourg
Ontario’s Ottawa St. Anthony finished in first place in Group A with their fourth straight victory over Kodiak Charlesbourg. A second half goal by Shamir Lubenga (79’) earned the shutout victory for Colin Gibson.
