Ontario, Alberta lead the way on match day 3 in Moncton

The sun shone bright for a third straight day at the Canada Soccer Sport Chek National Championships U-14 Cup in Moncton. Alberta and Ontario were equally bright, leading the way and moving closer to positions in the TECK Finals on 10 Oct. Both representatives remain undefeated in Group A for the Girls U-14 Cup (Calgary Foothills) and on the Boys side of the Cup (Brampton East).

U-14 CUP BOYS

Group A - Brampton East (ON) 7-0 (YU) Yukon Strikers
Brampton East’s James Lima (63’, 68’, 69’) scored a hat trick in six minutes in the second half to a win against Yukon Strikers. Sulayman Afzali (35’, 51’) had the game winner late in the first half. Simran Singh (38’) and K’Sen Miller (61’) had the others for the Ontario representatives.

Group A - Bonivital SC (MB) 3-0 (NB) Fredericton DSA
Bonivital SC went ahead when the Manitoba club’s Nathan Udoh (35’, TBD’) late in the first half. Diego Jimenez (71’) had the third for Bonivital who are second place in Group A.

Group B - Fraser Valley (BC) 10-0 (PE) Hillsborough United
BC’s Fraser Valleygot four goals apiece from Brandon Cambridge and Jehmrode Kahlon and singles from Cadell Rees and Jaskirat Sidhu.

Group B – St. Albert Impact (AB) 3-0 (NL) St. John's SC
Goals by Adebire Omorogbe (45’), Ousmani Maheshe (65’) and Euan Bartlett (69’) led Alberta’s St. Albert Impact to a win against St. John’s SC. The win puts St. Albert into second position in Group B.

U-14 CUP GIRLS

Group A - Calgary Foothills 02 (AB) 3-0 (SK) FC Regina
Goals by Penny Molloy (15’), Allyson Campbell (18’), and Ella Djuranic (55’) led Calgary Foothills to a win against FC Regina. The undefeated Alberta club leads Group A with 9 points.

Group A – Halifax County United (NS) 5-1 (PE) RC United
An own goal by the Prince Edward Island representatives, plus goals by Kate Burton (22’), Virginia Boone (35’) and Kaitlyn Brown (45’, 63’) led Halifax County United to a win against RC United, who got one from Paige Mallett (25’).

Group B – Bonivital SC (MB) 5-0 (NB) Fredericton DSA
Manitoba’s Bonivital SC got off to a cracking start on Sydney Butler’s twelfth minute goal. Jaiya Reimer (32’, 51’) and Emily Christophe (46’) and a late goal from Syndey Bulton moved Bonivital into a tie for second in Group B.

Group B - Waterloo United (ON) 0-0 (BC) Surrey United SC
No goals, but a valuable point for both Waterloo United, who move into first place, and Surrey United in a very tight Group B.

2016 Sport Chek National Championships
Canada Soccer’s Sport Chek National Championships run 5-10 October 2016 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Lethbridge, Alberta, Vaughan, Ontario, and St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. At all age levels, the Sport Check National Championships provide a meaningful soccer experience for host cities and participating teams, as well as the players, coaches, support staff, officials, and volunteers.
