Societé Radio-Canada to broadcast Nutrilite Canadian Championship

The Canadian Soccer Association announced today that Societé Radio-Canada will broadcast two matches in the 2009 Nutrilite Canadian Championship. The two matches are 27 May featuring the Impact de Montréal at Vancouver Whitecaps FC and 18 June featuring Toronto FC at the Impact. Both matches will be broadcast at 23.00 ET (20.00 PT) and feature French play-by-play commentary.



“The Canadian Soccer Association is pleased to announce that Canadian soccer fans will be able to watch both of these games on Radio-Canada,” said Canadian Soccer Association General Secretary Peter Montopoli. “Both of these matches provide French broadcast coverage for our fans across the country.”

Radio-Canada will also stream three games live on its website, radio-canada.ca. Both the 27 May and 18 June match along with the 20 May match will be available online. The 20 May match features Whitecaps FC at Montréal.

Radio-Canada’s program adds to the 2009 Nutrilite Canadian Championship coverage, which already features four English-language broadcasts on Rogers Sportsnet. The Sportsnet broadcast schedule kicked off last Wednesday 6 May when Toronto FC won the competition opener 1:0 over Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Sportsnet also carries the 27 May and 2 June matches in Vancouver as well as the 18 June match in Montréal. All four Sportsnet broadcasts are replayed on Setanta Sports.

The 13 May match featuring Impact de Montréal at Toronto FC is available via webcast. English coverage can be found at torontofc.ca (http://torontofc.neulion/com/tfc/console.jsp) while French coverage can be found at corussports.com.

The 2009 Nutrilite Canadian Championship runs 6 May to 18 June in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver. The six-match championship features home-and-away competition between the three teams. The champion wins the Voyageurs Cup and qualifies for 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League.
