Rogers Sportsnet to carry home Canada-Ecuador match

The Canadian Soccer Association has announced that Rogers Sportsnet will carry a live broadcast of the Canadian Men’s International Friendly match on 1 June 2011. The match will be broadcast live on all four Rogers Sportsnet channels (East, Ontario, West and Pacific) for a 19.00 ET / 16.00 PT kickoff. The match features Canada against Ecuador at BMO Field in Toronto.

The match will be broadcast live on all four Rogers Sportsnet channels (East, Ontario, West and Pacific) for a 19.00 ET / 16.00 PT kickoff. The match features Canada against Ecuador at BMO Field in Toronto.



The announcement was made as part of a press conference at BMO Field on Thursday 14 April. National head coach Stephen Hart was on hand to meet the media and talk about both the Men’s International Friendly match against Ecuador as well as the upcoming 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup (which runs 5-25 June across USA).



Also announced on Thursday was the on-sale ticket date for the 1 June match. Tickets to watch Canada will go on sale to the public this coming Wednesday 20 April at 10.00 ET / 07.00 PT. The general public can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster at 855.985.5000 or ticketmaster.ca.



Plus, Canada formally announced that it has renewed its partnership with BMO Financial Group through 2014. BMO is a big supporter of soccer across Canada from youth players in local neighbourhoods and communities right through to the professional level and Canadian national teams.



Finally, media got an up-close look at the new Canadian Umbro kits that will make their home debut on 1 June at BMO Field. Canada unveiled its new partnership with Umbro in late January and have national teams have worn the new design in international matches and competitions since 9 February 2011. Overall, Canada’s national teams have posted a combined record of 11 wins, one draw and six losses wearing the new Umbro kits.
