Canada’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers preparation camp continued in Alliston, Ontario on Tuesday, now just three days away from a Friday night home match at BMO Field in Toronto. Canada will face Belize in a home-and-away series in CONCACAF Round 3, with Canada hosting the 4 September opening leg and Belize hosting the 8 September return leg.
The national team with the most goals over two legs will advance to CONCACAF Round 4, joining Mexico, Honduras and the winner of the Curaçao-El Salvador series (also 4 and 8 September) in a four-nation round-robin series. Canada are hoping to get off to a good start on Friday 4 September with the home crowd behind them. Tickets to the match, presented by BMO, are available via Ticketmaster.ca starting at just $20.
“It’s the calm before the storm a little bit (right now),” said Canadian midfielder Will Johnson. “We have to keep our emotions tamed down and understand that (while) Friday is a big game, it is also two days away. So we need to keep doing what we are doing on the field and make sure we are doing the right things (in terms of) preparation.”

“It’s always good to get back on the pitch with the boys,” said Canadian midfielder Adam Straith, who took note of some “new faces” in the squad. “We had our first full day of training today that went well and we are looking forward to Friday. We want to build going into these games to put us into the next round.”
Canada will train again on Wednesday in Alliston before traveling south to Toronto on Wednesday night. Canada will then train at BMO Field on Thursday.
As for opponent Belize, they were scheduled to land in Toronto on Tuesday night shortly before midnight.
