PEI Soccer announces annual award winners

The Prince Edward Island Soccer Association announced its award winners at its annual awards banquet. Mozesh Gyorio and Tessa Roche were the big winners as the male and female Senior Players of the Year.



Other award winners were Junior Players of the Year Jared Murphy and Jill Edwards, Coaches of the Year Brian Allain and Lincoln Rix, Senior Referee of the Year Doug Smith, Junior Referee of the Year Josh Bowman, Administrator of the Year Lori Lund, Volunteer of the Year Kirk McAleer, Lowell Stewart Memorial Award winner Emma Kelly, and Team of the Year Avondale Islanders.

Gyorio represented Canada’s U-20 team this year at the 2009 Francophone Games in Beirut, Lebanon. He played in three games and helped Canada finish fourth in the nine-team tournament. At the club level, he helped San Jacinto College win both the district and regional titles.



Roche spent the 2009 season with the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers and Sherwood Parkdale Rangers. She led Atlantic University Sport with 13 goals and became her school’s all-time leader with 38 goals after four years. She also won AUS Most Valuable Player honours.
