Canadian FIFA Referee Carol Anne Chenard and FIFA Assistant Referees Marie-Han Gagnon-Chretien and Chantal Boudreau attended the CONCACAF Women’s Elite Course in San José, Costa Rica from October 19-22. The focus during this course was on physical fitness and technical training involving sessions both in the classroom and on the field.

Instruction was led by Kari Seitz (Senior Manager, FIFA Refereeing Department), Jennifer Bennett (FIFA), Leonel Leal (CRC), Kaleisha Antoine (FIFA), Alan Morgan Brown (FIFA) and Canada’s own Michelle Pye.

The Elite course prepares and advises CONCACAF’s top female Referees and Assistant Referees for the very busy upcoming year which will include the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup from 5-24 August 2018.

Canada Soccer is responsible for the development and training of match officials for amateur and professional competitions in Canada. In partnership with our Provincial and Territorial Associations and sanctioned professional leagues, Canada Soccer provides development and training opportunities to advance to the national list of referees and nominations to the FIFA list.
