Canada’s women’s national team had another good training session today at the Zhejiang College of Sports in Hangzhou. The team trained from 17.00-18.15.

“Today was quite short, one hour and fifteen minutes,” said coach Even Pellerud. “(We had) a slow warm-up and then we went into formation.”

Pellerud says the team worked on both defence and offence, mostly fine tuning at this stage as only a few more days remain before the opening kick off of the FIFA Women’s World. The tournament starts on 10 September, but Canada’s first match is 12 September.

“We have a couple more sessions to go,” said coach Pellerud. “It will be more of the same – defensive and offensive details, a lot more demonstrations, some more sprints just to release the energy in the bodies. More or less, (we’re) just trying to endure the last days. The waiting time is long and we just want to kill time now.”

Canada continues their training tomorrow in Hangzhou. Their first match is Wednesday 12 September against Norway (Norge). The match will be played at 20.00 local time (8.00 ET or 5.00 PT in Canada).
