Canada Soccer’s eNational Team’s 2023 eNations Play-Ins Journey Continues

Canada Soccer’s eNational Team returns to action for 2023 eNations Play-Ins Match Week 2.

The FIFAe Nations Play-Ins are the first step on the journey to qualify for the 2023 FIFAe Nations Cup – the most prestigious event of the FIFA eFootball calendar. All matches are played 2v2 on the PlayStation 5 version of FIFA 23 using FIFA Ultimate Team Squads.

Match Week 1 saw Canada Soccer’s eNational Team players AJ and Goalmachine post a record of 4-2-2 and currently sit in second place in the overall FIFAe Nations Play-Ins table heading into Match Week 2. The full schedule and table can be found on FIFA.gg

Match Week 2 will see AJ joined by returning eNational Team player AgitPower. Agit was a member of the eNational Team during their debut season in 2021, a season which saw Canada come out of the gate strongly. Canada narrowly missed qualification for the 2021 FIFAe Nations Cup with a loss in a tiebreak knockout match against Mexico. The 2021 FIFAe Nations Cup was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. AgitPower was a 2021 FIFAe World Cup Grand Finalist, is currently the highest ranked Canadian Player in the FIFA Global Series Rankings, and will be representing DC United later this year in the FIFAe Club Series.

Goalmachine is unavailable during this FIFAe Match Week due to club commitments.

All matches for the FIFAe Nations Play-In Match Week 2 will be streamed live on Twitch.tv/CanadaSoccer starting at 18.00 ET / 15.00 PT.

Canada’s impressive 2022 season saw them jump from #36th to #7th in the FIFAe Nations Rankings becoming the highest ranked country in North & Central America and will look to build on previous success heading into 2023.

The qualification journey begins with the FIFAe Nations Play-Ins, which occur over three match-weeks between December 2022 and March 2023. In this round, teams that participated in previous year’s eNations Series play in a division based round-robin style tournament. The top two teams after Match Week 3 will advance directly to the FIFAe Nations Playoffs, while the 7 remaining teams will join any newly added Nations in the FIFAe Nations Qualifiers.

Match Week 1: 15-16 Dec (4W-2D-2L)
Match Week 2: 26-27 Jan
Match Week 3: 2-3 Mar

Canada is joined in the Play-Ins by Mexico, USA, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Trinidad & Tobago.
