Canada Soccer held its annual Provincial Promotion Referee Course from the 16-18 May in Ottawa, ON.

Canada Soccer held its annual Provincial Promotion Referee Course from the 16-18 May in Ottawa, ON. This was the sixth time the centralized course was run, with 20 officials from seven provinces (BC, AB, SK, ON, QC, PEI, NS) attending.

Canada Soccer’s Head of Refereeing Tiger Liu lead the course alongside National Instructors Marie-Julie Allaire, QC; Joe Audi, ON; Isaac Raymond, ON; and Richard Sansregret, AB. Instructors Allaire and Raymond have attended four FIFA Futuro Courses and Sansregret has attended three.

The Provincial Promotion Referee Course featured two days of intensive practical and theoretical sessions, held at Algonquin College.

“This course is a valuable tool for referee development,” says Liu. “It helps Canada Soccer identify and work with up and coming, nation-wide talent, while giving participants the opportunity to improve their performances by working alongside Futuro Instructors, so it’s a learning opportunity for all involved.”
