Canada expects challenge from St. Lucia

With less than 48 hours to kickoff, Canada’s full concentration is devoted to Friday’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers™ match against St. Lucia. Canada has been welcomed by its host upon arrival this Wednesday 5 October in Gros Islet, St. Lucia. The two sides will meet Friday 7 October at Beausejour Stadium for an 18.00 local kickoff.

“We are expecting a difficult match with St. Lucia playing at home,” said Canadian assistant coach Tony Fonseca. “Their players are used to these conditions and we are not. We have to adapt quickly and not make any mistakes. I would say that concentration is a must.”



Along with the live coverage, there will be post-match video available on CanadaSoccerTV. While no live broadcast is available for the match, broadcaster Rogers Sportsnet will be present to supply additional coverage.

Only one team will advance from this four-team group in CONCACAF Stage II. Canada is the group leader with six points following victories against St. Lucia and Puerto Rico in early September. Canada will also face St. Kitts and Nevis in back-to-back matches in November.
