Canada Defeats Costa Rica For Third Place

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Women’s World Cup Team defeated Costa Rica 4-0 for third at the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament on Friday, March 5, 2004 in San Jose, Costa Rica.



Forward Christine Sinclair scored two, midfielder Charmaine Hooper and forward Aysha Jamani added goals for a Canadian victory.



Vancouver native, Andrea Neil earned her 100th cap for Canada, second only to Hooper.



Goalkeepers Karina LeBlanc and Erin McLeod shared the shutout.

Canada was knocked out of the 2004 Olympics earlier this week after a 2-1 loss to Mexico on Wednesday. Joining Mexico in the Olympics is the United States who defeated Mexico 3-2 in the final.
