Amway Canadian Championship semi-final round moves to Vancouver and Montréal

Fury lead 2-0; TFC up 4-2

After advancing past the preliminary round for the first time in their history, Ottawa Fury FC take a 2-0 lead to Vancouver on Wednesday for their second-leg match in the Amway Canadian Championship. In the other semi-final, four-time Voyageurs Cup recipients Toronto FC hold a 4-2 lead and are in Montréal to play the Impact at Stade Saputo.

Both semi-final matches will be broadcast on TSN, Canada’s Home of the Champions starting with Montréal/Toronto at 7:30 ET followed by Vancouver/Ottawa at 7:00 PT. Both games will be on TSN2.

North American Soccer League side Ottawa Fury FC had previously appeared in the preliminary round twice before beating league rivals FC Edmonton 3-2 on aggregate this time to advance. Canadian Carl Haworth provided the spark for the Fury as they defeated defending Canadian Champion Vancouver 2-0 at TD Place.

At BMO Field in Toronto, the home side got off to a hot start scoring four goals, including two from man of the match, Canadian Jordan Hamilton, before Montréal closed the match with two late goals.

The final round will also be a two-legged series. The schedule for the final will be determined after the completion of the semi-final round.

The Amway Canadian Championship is Canada Soccer’s professional competition featuring clubs from Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montréal. The national champion lifts the Voyageurs Cup and wins Canada’s lone spot in CONCACAF Champions League on the road to the FIFA Club World Cup.
