Posted on 25 June 2008 in Canadian Championship

The Impact de Montréal won its second-straight match in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship, winning 2:0 over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Roberto Brown and David Testo scored for the Impact while Matt Jordan recorded his second-straight clean sheet.

The match was pretty even for the first 20 minutes with few chances at either end. Just before the half-hour mark, the Impact started to penetrate the Whitecaps zone. After a few chances, Testo got a shot on goal that was stopped by Whitecaps goalkeeper Jay Nolly. The rebound came to Brown who fired it home for a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute.

The Whitecaps had a few chances late in the first half. The home team came out with even more chances in the second half. In the 55th minute, the Whitecaps’ Eduardo Sebrango beat Jordan, but couldn’t beat the crossbar.

After numerous Vancouver chances, the Impact doubled its lead in the 66th minute. Patrick Leduc made the small pass to Testo who scored for a 2-0 lead. The Whitecaps had a few more chances down the stretch, but could not score.

The Nutrilite Canadian Championship runs 27 May to 22 July. The last three matches will take place in July: the Canada Day tilt between the Whitecaps at Toronto FC at BMO Field (1 July), the return match with Toronto FC visiting Vancouver (9 July), and the final match featuring the Impact at Toronto FC (22 July).
