James J. Ellis... he emigrated from Ireland to Canada in October 1958... said Jim Fleming during the Canadian Soccer Association’s President’s Award presentation on 10 June 2000, Jim Ellis should be commended for “the behind-the-scenes roles you have assumed in a quiet, friendly, yet efficient manner”...

was co-founder of the Toronto Emerald SC in 1958 (he was one of the team’s co-owners from 1958 to 1990)... served as vice-president of the Toronto and District Soccer Association (1963 to 1972)... served as vice-president of the Ontario Soccer Association (1970 to 1977)... served on Ontario Soccer’s Discipline and Appeals Committee (1983 to 1988)... 
 
served on the National Organising Committee for the 1974 CONCACAF Juvenile Tournament... served as Canada’s team manager at the 1976 CONCACAF Men’s Youth Championship... served as head of delegation with Canada’s national youth teams (1999 to 2003), including the 1999 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship... served on Canada Soccer’s Discipline and Appeals Committee...
