Hall of Fame journalist Cross, 92, passes away

Jeff Cross, an honoured member of The Soccer Hall of Fame, has passed away at the age of 92. The former journalist won the Canadian Sports Federation Sportswriter and Broadcaster Award in both 1968 and 1973.

From a storied career, Mr. Cross spent 32 years at The Province newsaper in Vancouver, BC. He covered the Vancouver Whitecaps when they first entered the North American Soccer League in 1974. He also covered both the 1966 FIFA World Cup England and the 1986 FIFA World Cup Mexico.

In 2004, he became the first former media member honoured by The Soccer Hall of Fame.

Mr. Cross was born 14 November 1923 in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, England. He passed away on 14 February 2016.
