Match Report

Toronto FC defeated Pacific FC 2-1 to reach their sixth consecutive Canadian Championship Final.

Jozy Altidore opened the scoring in the 15' when he bent a right footed shot in off the post on a through ball from Jacob Shaffelburg.

Minutes later, Pacific FC keeper Callum Irving kept TFC from doubling their lead, with a quick reaction save off an Altidore redirect on goal on a ball from Mark Delgado.

From the left side of the pitch, Toronto made it 2-0 on a one-two play from Shaffelburg to Laryea back to Shaffelburg, who drove one low past Irving (26’).

Shortly after, Jonathan Osorio found himself inside the box, struck it low and hard, Irving with a diving stop.

In the 41', Irving is called upon again. This time its a massive reaction stop off a neatly re deflected shot from Shaffelburg on a cross from Laryea.

Pacific FC created a pair of chances late in the half. Both of those came in 45’+3 minutes, Marco Bustos with a volley, was easily stopped by Quentin Westberg. Moments later Manuel Aparicio sent a thunderbolt from long range that was parried over the bar by Westberg.

IN the second half, Jamar Dixon with a long range strike is well handled by Westberg (53’).

Irving did well with a reaction save on a close range strike by Altidore, set up by Shaffelburg from Osorio in the 56th minute.

Pacific FC got one back in the 83', when Alejandro Diaz placed a Kadin Chung cross on a through-ball from Victor Blasco into the back of the net low to the side of Westberg.

Michael Bradley got in the way of a Diaz header in the 90’+3 minute to preserve TFC’s lead. Toronto defended two Pacific corner kicks to end the match.

The starting XI for Toronto FC featured goalkeeper Quentin Westberg, with a back line of Canadian Richie Laryea, alongside Kemar Lawrence, Omar Gonzalez, and Auro Jr. Canadian Jonathan Osorio, captained by Michael Bradley, and Mark Delgado started in the midfield. Canadian Jacob Shaffelburg, with Jozy Altidore, and Alejandro Pozuelo rounded out the attack.

Toronto FC Head Coach Javier Perez made a halftime substitution, replaced Auro Jr. with Justin Morrow.
Ifunanyachi Achara replaced Jozy Altidore (61’). In added time, Jacob Shaffelburg was replaced by Nick DeLeon (90’+1).

Pacific FC featured eight Canadians in their starting XI. Canadian keeper Callum Irving, had Canadians Jordan Haynes, Lukas MacNaughton, Kadin Chung, along with Abdoulaye Samake, provided the defensive line. A completely Canadian midfield included Manual Aparicio, Alessandro Hojabrpour, and Jamar Dixon, wearing the captain’s armband. Joshua Heard, Alejandro Diaz, and Canadian Marco Bustos started up front.

Head coach Pa-Modou Kah opted to replace Marco Bustos with Canadian Kunle Dada-Luke at the start of the second half. Kah made a double substitution, replaced Jordan Haynes with Victor Blasco and Abdoulaye Samake with Canadian Matthew Baldisimo (61’). Another double substitution, Joshua Heard replaced with Gianni dos Santos, Jamar Dixon replaced with Canadian Sean Young (79’).
