Canada Soccer welcomes Eric Tenllado as Men's EXCEL Development Coach

Canada Soccer has added Eric Tenllado as a Men's EXCEL Development Coach. Tenllado will work across Canada Soccer’s EXCEL Program in support of both Regional EXCEL strategies and Men’s EXCEL National Youth Teams starting in February 2019.

“Eric’s profile is perfect for the role, he is a youth development specialist, his experience and passion in the area of developing elite young players will strengthen our EXCEL system,” said John Herdman, Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team Head Coach and Men’s EXCEL Director. “His formation as a technician has been through the Spanish system and he brings some unique perspectives that can support the evolution of our EXCEL player development approach particularly at the provincial level.”

Tenllado’s background includes working seven years at RCD Espanyol de Barcelona youth academy. He holds the UEFA PRO Diploma for Coaching, holds a Degree in Physical and Sports Sciences at Universitat Ramón Llull - Blanquerna (Barcelona), and has lectured in the coach education system in Barcelona for CENAFE schools. He has been coaching in Canada since 2016 as Director of Competitive & Coaching Development Manager for Toronto High Park FC.

“He will work across the whole EXCEL system from supporting Regional EXCEL strategies with players and coaches in our provinces to technical delivery with National EXCEL youth teams,” said Herdman.

Canada Soccer’s Men’s EXCEL Program channels our nation’s exceptional players into the best soccer environments. The Canada Soccer Pathway works in collaboration with our provincial and territory partners as well as the professional clubs and academies. For Canada’s elite players, the program emphasizes player development on the pathway to representing Canada’s Men’s National Team in international soccer.
