Canada Soccer mourns passing of Gary Miller

Gary Miller, a member of Canada Soccer’s Technical Committee and the Director of Soccer Operations at Ontario Soccer, has passed away at age 63. Canada Soccer shares its condolences with the family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Miller who had a tremendous impact on the game.

Mr. Miller was Canada Soccer’s High Performance Director from 1990 to 1992. He held a Canada Soccer Coaching A Licence and served as an assistant coach with Canada at the FIFA U-16 World Tournament Scotland 1989.

Mr. Miller served as Ontario Soccer’s Director of Soccer Operations from 2015 to 2020. He previously served as Ontario Soccer’s School Programs Coordinator (1983-85), Technical Director (1985-1990), and Director of High Performance (1992-1994).

He also served as the Director of Soccer Operations at the American Scholarship Assistance Program (1994-1997) and was owner/operator, along with his wife Cindy, of Bryst Academy (1997-2015). He previously earned degrees from the University of Western Ontario and the University of British Columbia, including a Masters of Physical Education from UBC in 1983. As a player, he was a CIAU Second All-Canadian Team defender at Western Ontario in 1979.

He was inducted to the Western Mustangs Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
