Posted on 21 August 2019 in Coaching

Twenty-four coaches, technical directors, and Provincial and Territorial Member Association development staff participated in the first week of the new Canada Soccer Youth Licence pilot program in Vaughan, ON from 12-18 August.

The group will return to Vaughan, ON for a second week of sessions 14-20 September after which they will be required to complete the video assessment component of the course to receive their Youth Licence.

Developed by Canada Soccer’s Development department in collaboration with its stakeholders and academics in athlete and child development, the Canada Soccer Youth Licence is designed for coaches working in a professional capacity with players aged 13-18.

The Youth Licence pilot follows the successful implementation of the Canada Soccer Children’s Licence pilot which ran in 2018 before the course was rolled out with nine courses from coast-to-coast in 2019. As previously announced, the Development Department will unveil a Canada Soccer Pro Licence pilot in 2020.
