Canada Soccer A Licence course underway in Montréal

Posted on 8 December 2015 in Coaching

Canada Soccer's A License coaching course is underway in Montréal, QC, with the Association's highest level of education program running 11 days from 7 to 17 December 2015. This year's course features 24 coaches that can learn and improve the environment for players in clubs across the country.

The focus on A License course is very much football at the international and professional levels. Coaches enter the course with a range of established experiences, be it from their playing or coaching careers in Canada and abroad.

"We look at the development in the tactical and technical areas of soccer, notably those highlighted at the recent 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015," said Ray Clark, Canada Soccer's Director of Coaching. "By watching and learning from the world's best, we hope to open the minds of our best coaches with a view of improving the standards here in Canada."

The courses help coaches devise, organise, conduct, and evaluate coaching sessions in advanced skills, tactics, strategies, and systems of play. Coaches will also better understand and employ the complimentary managerial and coach-related aspects appropriate to the role of the coach at the elite levels of soccer.

"The quality of coaches attending this year's course is high, so we are looking forward to working with a good group of experienced and talented coaches," said Clark.

Of the 24 coaches registered for this year's program, eight of them have experience either as a player or technical staff with Canada's national or national youth teams. Others have experience at either the professional level, youth club level, university level, or provincial select level.
