Canada have wrapped up their five-day Para Soccer preparation camp in Toronto ahead of the 2016 IFCPF Qualification Tournament, which kicks off 29 July in Vejen, Denmark. The camp wraps up the program's 2016 at-home preparations before three or more international matches overseas.
The 2016 IFCPF CP Football Qualification Tournament serves as a qualification tournament for the 2017 IFCPF Intercontinental Cup. In the group phase of the competition, Canada will face Denmark on 29 July, Finland on 30 July, and Japan on 1 August.
While Canada have featured 25 players in camp this year, coach Drew Ferguson has already narrowed his pool to 14 players that will travel to Denmark. It is this group of 14 players that have trained in Toronto this week at the Kia Training Grounds.
"We’ve seen a few bright spots and some positive surprises," said Ferguson. "The players will have two weeks to fine tune their fitness and get in the right frame of mind before heading to Denmark."
Canada's Para Soccer Team is made up of athletes who have cerebral palsy or have had a stroke or brain injury. Athletes that are interested in Canada's Para Soccer Team should contact coach Drew Ferguson at email@example.com.
