Charlottetown, PEI - Canadian Women's Under-19 Team earned their fifth straight win today during an exhibition match against Mexico. Canada blanked Mexico 4-0 in front of 2,600 fans at MacAdam Field in Charlottetown, PEI. This was Canada's second win of the three-game series in the Maritimes against Mexico.

Brittany Timko opened the scoring for Canada early and earned her first international goal when she chipped the ball over the Mexican defence into the top left corner. Timko scored in the 7th minute.

Five minutes later, midfielder Carmelina Moscato scored from the top of the box with a half volley into the bottom right corner.

Christine Sinclair added a third goal for Canada in the 42nd minute when she ran through the Mexican defence and faked the goalkeeper to place the ball in the back of the Mexican goal. This was Sinclair's second goal of the series and fourth with the Under-19 National Team.

With only a minute left in the first half, Sasha Andrews scored on a corner kick to give Canada a four-goal lead. Andrews headed Moscato's corner into the top right corner.

Making her debut with the Canadian Women's Under-19 Team was Diana Matheson of Ontario and Jessica Hussey from Kanata replaced Erin McLeod in Canada's goal.

“We put in a strong effort and deserved the 4-0 win,” said Head coach Ian Bridge. “We need to keep working hard, create more scoring chances and play smart, safe defence. It was great for our team to play in front of an enthusiastic Charlottetown crowd.”

Canada ends the Maritime series Friday in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Canada then heads to Western Canada at the end of July to continue their preparation for the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship. Canada will host Chinese Taipei for two games as part of the Canada Road to the World Championship. Canada will play Chinese Taipei on July 28 in Victoria before heading off to Vancouver to play again on July 31.
