Posted on 18 July 2001 in ↳ Women's EXCEL U-18 to U-20

Ottawa, Ontario –Canadian Women's Under-20 team head coach Stuart Neely has selected 18 players to attend the Under-21 Female Open Nordic Cup to be held in Gjorvik, Norway from July 25 - 31. The squad will arrive in Drammen, Norway a week prior to the tournament in order to train and participate in an exhibition match against a Norwegian 1st Division All Star team on July 23.

Eight nations will attend the Nordic Cup with Canada placed in Group B along with Finland, Norway and Sweden. USA, Iceland, Germany and Denmark make up Group A. Canada's first game is on July 25 against Norway followed by Sweden on July 27. Canada will face Finland on July 29 to finish preliminary play. If Canada advances from the first round, final matches will take place on July 31.

“I am very happy with the combination of players that have been selected to this tournament,” stated Neely. “ Our first priority is for our players to gain more international experience, but we also aim to return home as one of the top four countries in the Nordic Cup.”
