The fifth day of the Sport Chek National Club Championships U-16 Boys Cup featured difficult conditions with temperatures around four degrees Celsius and a driving rain that seemed to come from everywhere. Nova Scotia's Halifax City Soccer Club only needed a draw to advance to the bronze medal match; but, if New Brunswick's Fundy SA grabbed three points they, instead, would represent Group A in the bronze medal match.

City controlled the ball early with their best chance of the first half coming, in the 22nd minute, when Jack Eliot took a free-kick and delivered a perfect back corner ball that Darien Rolle got his head on and drilled off the crossbar.

The match would go into the break all-square at 0-0.

It only took three minutes into the second half for City to notch their first goal of the contest. Will Fitzgerald drilled a ball, from the right side, that the Fundy keeper fumbled and that Ahmed Abokar hit into the back of the net.

A 61st minute goal would clinch it for City when Alex Black used his speed, breaking down the left side to cut into the middle to deliver a cross for Damon Robinson, who made no mistake.

Fundy SA tried to get within one, in the 67th minute, when they caught the City keeper out of position and put a ball just over his head, but Daniel Parsons was there to clear it off the line.

The 2:0 win will move City to the bronze medal game tomorrow at 11:30 local / 10.00 ET / 07:00 PT at Mount Pearl Middle where they will face a Manitoba team who is coming off a loss today to Québec.
