Boys U-16 Cup: Foothills bounce back to book spot in Bronze Medal Match

With the place in the bronze medal match up for grabs, Calgary Foothills exploded with 4 second half goals to defeat the Fieldians Athletics of Newfoundland and Labrador by a score of 5-2. Two goals from Vaughan Bianchi and a goal apiece from Chet Kulsar, Will Hesson, and Dominic Parris, would be enough to ensure the Alberta champions would play for bronze.
Coming off a grueling 1-0 defeat at the hands of Surrey United SC the day before, the Foothills appeared determined to redeem their loss as Bianchi Vaughan would score for the Alberta side after just three minutes.
The lead would not last long however as Fieldians’ striker Emmanuel Dolo would score in the 10th and 18th minute to give his team the advantage heading into the break. Dolo’s brace would give him a total of 5 in the tournament to put him amongst the top scorers.
While the east coast club certainly pushed the Foothills to their limits, the quality of the Calgary side eventually proved to be too much for the Fieldians’ backline.
Quickly after the restart the Foothills equalized in the 46th minute through Chet Kulsar, before taking the lead for good in the 54th minute through Will Hesson. Bianchi added his second in the 60th minute while striker Parris added a late goal in injury time. Both Bianchi and Parris are also amongst the top scorers in the tournament with 4 and 3 goals respectively.
With the result, the Foothills will take on Pannellinios for bronze tomorrow at 12:00pm while Fieldians will play in the 7th place game against QC United of Saskatchewan at 9:00am
