Canada Advances To Round of 16 At WYC

Canada's Men's Youth Team has advanced to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Youth Championships, after spending the day (Friday) awaiting the results of other group matches.

Canada will face Burkina Faso on December 8 in the round of 16 with the winner to advance to the quarter-finals and play the winner of the Paraguay vs Spain game on December 12.

The Canadians defeated the Czech Republic 1-0 on Thursday to set themselves up as one of the four best third-place teams to advance along with the top two teams from each of the six groups. More

Mitchell Announces Final Youth Roster

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada's Men's Youth (U-20) Head Coach Dale Mitchell has named his 20-player roster for Canada's second consecutive FIFA World Youth Championship. The 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 27th to December 19, 2003.

The roster was finalized following a 4-1 loss to Turkey on Wednesday, November 19th in Ataturk-Antalya Stadium in Turkey. Canada's single goal was scored by Josh Simpson in the 72nd minute of the friendly. More

Twamley Announces Second Round Roster

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Men's Olympic Team Head Coach Bruce Twamley today announced his 20-player roster for the home and away CONCACAF Olympic qualifying series against El Salvador on November 15 and 19.

The team will depart for Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on November 5 and will hold a nine day training camp before leaving for El Salvador on November 13. More

Kelowna To Host Second Round Olympic Qualifier

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association is pleased to announce that Canada's home game of second round Olympic qualifications against El Salvador will be played at the Apple Bowl Stadium in Kelowna, British Columbia on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. The first game of the home and away series will be played in El Salvador on November 15th or 16th.

The winner of the series will advance to the qualifying tournament involving two groups of four teams in Mexico from February 2-12, 2004. The winners of each group automatically qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. More

Second Round fixtures set for Olympic Qualifying

Ottawa, ON - CONCACAF announced the Second Round fixtures for the 2004 Men's under-23 Olympic Qualifying at the conclusion of a draw held today at the offices of the General Secretariat. Canada will play the first leg of the second round home and away series in El Salvador on November 15/16 and the second leg match in Canada on November 19. Locations of the games are to be determined.

Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Saint Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago and USA have already qualified for the second round, while twelve nations are still battling for the six remaining berths as their respective first round matches conclude on 12 October 2003. More

Development Team Travels To Germany

Ottawa, Ontario – Junior (U-17) Head Coach Stephen Hart has named 18-players for a development training camp in Duisburg, Germany from September 16-September 27, 2003. Canada is scheduled to play three exhibition games against local teams during the camp before returning on September 27.

The team was selected from the 2003 National All Star competition held on July 23-27 in Regina, SK. The camp is intended to introduce the players to the national team program as they will be considered for the future Canadian Men's under-17 Team. More

Twamley Releases Olympic Team Roster

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Men's Olympic Team Head Coach Bruce Twamley today announced his 18-player roster for the home and away CONCACAF Olympic qualifying series against the US Virgin Islands on September 7 and 10.

The team will depart for Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on September 1 and will hold a four day training camp before leaving for St. Croix on September 5. They will play the first game of the two-game series against the US Virgin Islands on September 7 at 4:00 p.m. (local time). The team will fly to Saint John, New Brunswick on September 8 and play the second game of the series at Canada Games Stadium on September 10 at 5:00 p.m. (local time). More

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada's (U-17) Team Head Coach Stephen Hart announced his 18-player roster that will travel to Blaine, Minnesota for an eight day training camp from July 7th -14th including two friendlies against the United States on Friday, July 11th at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota and on Sunday, July 13th at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

The roster includes 13-players: Robert Giacomi, Trevor Delpippo, Myles Davis, Andrew Hainault, Brad Peetoom, Tyler Rosenlund, Vince Stewart, Derek Rios, Marcel De Jong, Andrea Lombardo, Cam Wilson, Rob Orefice, and Gabriel Seguin-Gauthier who came within goal differential of claiming a berth at the 2003 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Finland when Canada hosted the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament in March 2003 in Victoria, BC. Ottawa, Ontario – Canada's Junior (U-17) Men's Team Head Coach Stephen Hart announced his 18-player roster for the CONCACAF U-17 Qualifications. The four-team tournament will run from March 26-30 at Centennial Stadium in Victoria, BC.

The winner of the group B (which includes Mexico, Costa Rica and Cuba) will advance to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Finland. The United States placed first in its Group earlier this month and have already advanced to the World Cup. More

Canada Draws Brazil, Australia and Czech Republic

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada's Men's Youth (Under-20) Team were drawn into Group C and will face Brazil, Australia and the Czech Republic in the opening round at the FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates from March 25-April 16.

The Canadians will play their first game against Brazil on March 26 before facing Australia on March 29. Canada's third game of the first round will be against the Czech Republic on April 1. All games in Group C will be played in Sharjah.

29 Players Selected for a Combined Training Camp in Mexico

Ottawa, Ontario – Olympic (U-23) Head Coach Bruce Twamley and Youth (U-20) Head Coach Dale Mitchell will hold a combined training camp in Guadalajara, Mexico from January 7-21. Canada is scheduled to play three exhibition games during the camp before returning on January 21.

The Youth team will be preparing for the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship to be held this March in the United Arab Emirates. The Youth team secured their spot after a 3-2 victory over the United States in Charleston, S.C. in November. More

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Men's Olympic Team Head Coach Bruce Twamley today announced a roster of 18 players who will take part in a training camp from December 15-22 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., USA. The Canadians will also play two friendlies against their US counterparts on December 19th and 21st.

The roster includes six players who played for the U-20 Team that qualified in November for the FIFA World Youth Championship to be held in the United Arab Emirates in 2003: Andres Arango, Gordon Chin, Atiba Hutchinson, Winston Marshall, and Sita-Taty Matondo, and Kevin Harmse. The Canadians won their group when they defeated the Americans 3-2. More

The Canadians will play games against Bermuda, Jamaica and Barbados during the tournament.

The Canadians will train in Toronto on July 17 and 18 before flying to Bermuda on the 19th. More

Canada To Host Qualifying Tournament

Canada was awarded one of two CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament for the FIFA Under-17 World Championship at the CONCACAF Congress over the weekend. The tournament will take place in Canada (at a site to be determined) in late March, 2003 with the other being held in Guatemala. Each tournament will consist of four teams with three CONCACAF berths available at the FIFA Under-17 World Championship, which will be held in Finland, August 13-30, 2003.
