Canada’s women’s U-17 team completed a week-long camp in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago tonight with the completion of the Four Nation Tournament. Canada posted one win, one draw and one loss in the three-match series to finish second behind tournament winner Mexico. Host Trinidad and Tobago finished third while Jamaica finished fourth.

'We learned a lot this past week in Trinidad and Tobago,' said national head coach Bryan Rosenfeld. 'We now look forward to making our final preparations before next week’s CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship in Costa Rica.'

Canada played to a 1:1 draw with host Trinidad and Tobago on the final day of the tournament. Mexico, meanwhile, won 2:0 over Jamaica to clinch first place. Canada, Mexico and Jamaica are all now off to the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship in Alajuela, Costa Rica. As it so happens, all three teams will play each other again in the group phase of the confederation championship. Canada plays Jamaica on 11 March, Panama on 13 March and Mexico on 15 March.

Canada will travel from San Fernando to Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA on Saturday morning before leaving for Alajuela on Tuesday 9 March. The 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship runs 10-20 March with all matches played at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto and broadcast to the rest of North America via CONCACAF.com. The top-two teams of the eight-team championship will qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad and Tobago 2010.
