Republic of Ireland trips up Canada in Group D

On Thursday 9 September, Canada fell 0:1 to the Republic of Ireland while Ghana won 1:0 over Brazil. Not only is are the even on points (three), they are also tied and goal differential (even), although Brazil and Republic of Ireland are both ahead with two goals scored (compared to one goal by Canada and Ghana, each).

Canada will go into its final group match against Brazil knowing it will need a result to advance to the quarter-final stage. That match along with the Ghana-RepublIc of Ireland fixture will be played on Monday 13 September. Both matches will kick off at 19.00 ET / 16.00 PT.
In other matches played at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup today, Spain defeated New Zealand and Japan beat Venezuela in Group C. In matches played yesterday, Nigeria beat hosts Trinidad and Tobago, while Korea DPR defeated Chile in Group A. In Group B action Germany trounced South Africa and Korea Republic beat Mexico.
Canada, whose title sponsor is BMO Financial Group, is participating in its second FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
