Canada has started the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship on a good note, picking up the maximum three points in the opening match against Jamaica. Canada won 4:1 over Jamaica and starts the tournament in second place behind Mexico. Mexico is in first place following a 6:0 victory over Panama earlier in the day.
'It was a good game for us to get under our belt,' said national head coach Bryan Rosenfeld. 'We got the result which was the most important thing for us.'

In the opposite group, the ranking after one day is USA (3 points, +9 goals), Costa Rica (3 points, +7 goals), Cayman Islands (0 points, -7 goals) and Haiti (0 points, -9 goals). The opposite group resumes play with matches on Friday 12 March.
Canada, whose title sponsor is BMO Financial Group, is competing in the second CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship from 10-20 March in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The top two teams from the eight-team competition will qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad and Tobago 2010. All 16 matches in the tournament will be broadcast live on CONCACAF.com.
