Association releases schedule for BMO National Championships
The Canadian Soccer Association has released the schedule for the 2010 BMO National Championships to be played this October in Charlottetown, PE, Mount Peal, NL, Vaughan, ON and Moncton, NB. The eight club competitions will be played this 6-11 October: senior men’s (Challenge Trophy) and senior women’s (Jubilee Trophy) in Charlottetown, U-18 men and women in Mount Pearl, U-16 boys and girls in Vaughan, and U-14 boys and girls in Moncton.

'The BMO National Championships offer all participants the opportunity to experience new cultures and build friendships within the Canadian soccer community,' said Canadian Soccer Association president Dr. Dominic Maestracci, President, Canadian Soccer Association. 'The tournament brings together Canada’s best young players and provides them an opportunity to test themselves against the best of their peers on the national level.'

'BMO supports soccer across Canada from youth players in local neighbourhoods and communities through to the professional level,' said Sandy Bourne, Vice-President, Advertising, Sponsorship/Events and Merchandising, BMO Financial Group. 'We are proud to be a part of the 2010 BMO National Championships where we will all see the country’s future stars in action.'

In all, there will be 86 clubs representing 10 member provinces in the eight national club competitions. Qualification for the BMO National Championships run May through September via the provincial club championships. Last year’s eight national champions were Winnipeg’s Hellas SC (Challenge Trophy), Edmonton Victoria (Jubilee Trophy), Calgary Foothills Crew (Sony U-18 Cup men), Calgary Foothills Athletics (Sony U-18 Cup women), Conquérant Laval (U-16 Cup boys), Beauport (U-16 Cup girls), Edmonton Juventus (U-14 Cup boys), and Ajax Strikers (U-14 Cup girls).

Just last week, the Canadian Soccer Association announced the schedules for the BMO National Championships Nutrilite All Stars that will take place in Sherbrooke, QC and St. John’s, NL from 20-25 July. The Boys U-16/U-14 championships take place in Sherbrooke while the Girls U-16/U-14 championships take place in St. John’s.

The 2010 BMO National Championships feature the Nutrilite All Stars Boys and Girls competitions from 20-25 July and the Club Championships from 6-11 October. Through 12 competitions in six venues, the BMO National Championships will welcome more than 2,700 players, staff and officials in July and October. The BMO National Championships is the umbrella tournament for Canada’s premier amateur competitions, from the senior level Challenge Trophy and Jubilee Trophy competitions down to the U-14 youth levels.
