Canada has announced its 23-player roster eligible for the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup which runs this 5-25 June. The Canadian team opens the competition this 7 June in Detroit against USA following a home send-off match in Toronto on 1 June against Ecuador. The team departs for USA on 5 June and national head coach Stephen Hart is expected to select 20 players for travel to the biennial continental championship. More

Canada has been drawn into Group C for the upcoming 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Canada, Guadeloupe, Panama and USA will all face each other in the group phase of the 12-team competition from 5-14 June. Either two or three teams will advance to the quarter-final phase from 18-19 June. More

Brazil won the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 after a 3:2 victory over USA in the final. Brazil overcame a 2-0 deficit at the half by scoring three times in the final 45 minutes for the title. It marked Brazil's third FIFA Confederations Cup title.
USA won silver after upsetting Spain in the Wednesday semi-final with a 2-0 victory. Brazil, meanwhile, reached the final after a 1:0 win over host South Africa in the Thursday semi-final. In the bronze-medal match on Sunday, Spain won 3:2 after extra time over South Africa.
