Costa Rica won the 2009 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship four days after completing the field for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Egypt 2009. The Ticos won 3:0 over USA in the confederation final while Honduras won 2:1 over host Trinidad & Tobago in the match for third place.

Costa Rica, USA, Honduras and Trinidad & Tobago were the last four teams to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Egypt 2009. The four CONCACAF teams join Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa from Africa, Australia, Korea Republic, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan from Asia, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Spain from Europe, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela from South America, and Tahiti from Oceanic. Canada's men's U-20 team was eliminated from the 2009 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship tonight, finishing third in its four-team group at Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, Trinidad & Tobago. Canada finished its three-game set with three points after posting a record of one win and two losses.

Costa Rica (2-1-0) and Trinidad & Tobago (1-2-0) are the two teams that have advanced beyond Group B. Both have also qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Egypt 2009 along with USA and Honduras from the opposite group. More

Canada's men's U-20 team won some ground in the standings today at the 2009 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship. The young Canucks won 2:0 over Mexico, giving Canada its first three points in the competition. Canada now sits one point back of group leaders Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago.

While Canada won its match 2:0 over Mexico, Costa Rica and host Trinidad & Tobago played to a 0:0 draw in the second game at Marvin Lee Stadium on Monday night. Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago have four points each (+1 goal differential) while Canada has three points (+1) and Mexico has no points (-3). More

Canada's men's U-20 team received its assignment after Saturday's disappointing 0:1 loss to host Trinidad & Tobago: move on. The team has to forget the loss and prepare for a tough battle against group opponent Mexico at 17.00 at Marvin Lee Stadium on Monday. Canada's men's U-20 team had its last official training today before the CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship. The team trained for one hour on the artificial turf at Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, Trinidad & Tobago. The young Canucks face host Trinidad & Tobago at 18.00 local (17.00 ET / 14.00 PT) tomorrow night.

Canada’s men’s U-20 team had its first official training at Marvin Lee Stadium today, one day after the team arrived in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. The team trained in the early afternoon on the artificial turf. Just two days remain before Canada opens its competition at the 2009 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship at that very stadium.

"It is important that we train on the pitch on which we are going to play," said head coach Tony Fonseca. "The players need a good sense of the field. It is quite different from the ones we have in Canada. It is a little bit shorter and there’s not much rubber on it, so it means we have to adjust. The ball will bounce a lot more and it is a different game." More

Canada confirms U-20 roster for championship

Coach Tony Fonseca has confirmed his final roster before this week’s CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship in Trinidad & Tobago. Fonseca has selected 20 players for the tournament which not only serves as the confederation championship, but also the qualification route for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Egypt 2009.

The 2009 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship features eight teams separated in two groups. Two teams from each group will advance to Egypt 2009. Honduras, who eliminated St. Vincent & the Grenadines in the preliminary competition yesterday, joins USA, El Salvador and Jamaica in Group A. Canada faces Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico and Costa Rica in Group B. More
