Hart, Fonseca part of National Capital Coaching Weekend

Canadian national coaches Stephen Hart and Tony Fonseca will take part in the 4th Annual National Capital Coaching Weekend and Conference in Nepean, ON. The weekend runs 5-7 March and features four Canadian Soccer Association staff members: Hart, Fonseca, Ray Clark and David Benning. The weekend is organized by the Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club.

The Nepean Hotspurs have designed the weekend to provide the region "with demonstrations of the principles of coaching that should be used by our so-called “competitive teams” competing at the provincial and regional levels." More

FIFA Futuro III Coaching the Coaches held in Laval

The FIFA Futuro III Coaching the Coaches course has concluded in Laval, QC this week. The 11-day course was hosted by the Canadian Soccer Association in conjunction with the Fédération de Soccer du Québec. In attendance were 30 Canadian conductors; the course was led by FIFA instructors Michel Richard of Switzerland and Philippe Redon from France.

The FIFA Futuro III Course provides coaching education for Canadian coaching instructors. The Canadian instructors are responsible for training future coaches in Canada. More

New Advanced Coaching Course Set For July

This new course is aimed at coaches of elite players with a desire to learn more about the tactics and strategies of the modern game of soccer. Participants will study the technical, tactical, physiological and psychological aspects of soccer as played at the highest level and examine the elements involved in winning matches. Coaches will be given the opportunity to take part in practical coaching sessions, lectures, analysis and discussion in all of these subject areas.

While this course is aimed at Canadian Soccer Association A License holders who will be given preference, B License-National Coaches working with elite players may apply. More

CSA Launches New Online Coaching System - ‘iCoach'

Ottawa, Ontario - As part of its commitment to grass roots development the CSA is proud to announce the launch of its new Online Coaching System known as ‘iCoach'. ‘iCoach' was designed in association with Nortia Technologies to assist coaches to plan, share and save practice sessions, schedule games and tournaments, develop team lists and store and track player information. In addition, with its internal message centre and discussion board each player and coach within a team can be in touch with one another on a real time basis. [iCoach]

“I think that this tool will be a great help to coaches at all levels and will simplify all aspects of organizing their coaching duties,” said Ray Clark, Director of Coaching & Player Development for the Canadian Soccer Association. “With life getting busier and busier, having one easy-to-use tool to help accomplish this will be a tremendous benefit to coaches. Lower Island discusses "Vision for the Future"

Over one hundred soccer stakeholders form the Lower Island Soccer Association met on November 30th at the Princess Mary Restaurant. The title of the meeting was Technical Directions Forum.

The L.I.S.A. and British Columbia Soccer Association took the opportunity to share and discuss British Columbia's new Player Development Model. Presentations were made by Mike Findlay, B.C.S.A. Senior staff coach, Sean Fleming CSA National Staff Coach, Bob Lenarduzzi, Director of soccer operations for the Whitecaps, Frank Yallop, men's World Cup coach, Carl Valentine, current North Shore Development Center Head Coach and former National team member. They all emphasized within their presentations the importance of working together to help assist all programs in Canada to reach their true potential. More
