Canada returns from Grand Prix tournament

Canada's futsal team has returned from Brazil where it finished 16th at the IV Grand Prix of Futsal. It was Canada's first futsal competition in four years since the 2004 CONCACAF qualification tournament. Canada lost all six games in the competition. Canada's primary goal at the tournament was to identify new players that could compete at the international level. While Canada did not enter CONCACAF qualification for the 2008 season, coach Ross Ongaro was looking ahead to future CONCACAF and FIFA tournaments. More
Canada to face Peru on final day at Grand Prix

Canada's men's futsal team will face Peru on the final day of the Grand Prix of Futsal in Brazil. After three round-robin losses and a pair of heart-breakers in the plate competition, Canada will now face Peru for 15th place in the 4th Grand Prix of Futsal.
Canada lost its round-robin matches from 31 May to 2 June to Ukraine (0:5), Mozambique (2:6) and Colombia (1:2). It then fell on 4 June to Uruguay (2:3) and on 5 June to Chile (2:3 a.e.t).

Canada advances to plate competition

Canada's futsal team will enter the plate competition tomorrow after finishing fourth in Group D at the 4th Grand Prix of Futsal. The top eight teams (two from each group) advanced to the cup competition while Canada and seven other teams (the bottom two from each group) advanced to the plate competition. Canada will now compete for the best possible position from 9th to 16th place.
Canada lost 0:5 to Ukraine, 2:6 to Mozambique and 1:2 to Colombia. Ukraine and Colombia finished tied for first in Group D.

Canada drawn into Group D at Grand Prix

Canada's futsal team has been drawn into Group D at the 4th Grand Prix of Futsal. Canada will face Ukraine on Saturday 31 May (15.00), Mozambique on 1 June (12.00) and Colombia on 2 June (17.00).
Canada is one of 16 teams participating in the 4th Grand Prix of Futsal. Groups A and B play their matches in Fortaleza while Groups C and D play their matches in Natal. Canada's round-robin games take place at the Ginásio da Universidade de Fortaleza. More
Canada announces roster for futsal tournament in Brasil

Canada’s futsal team announced today that it will be heading to Brasil for the 4th Grand Prix of Futsal 2008. The 16-team competition runs 31 May to 8 June in Nadal Fortaleza, Brasil.
"This tournament will provide a great opportunity for me to evaluate new players in an international competition," says coach Ross Ongaro. "At this point, we are looking to build upon our existing pool of national-team players as we prepare for future FIFA events." More
First Ever National Futsal Championships

OTTAWA (ONTARIO) The Canadian Soccer Association in conjunction with the British Columbia Soccer Association is proud to host the first-ever National Futsal Championships on 14-15 April 2007 at Capilano College in North Vancouver, BC. This tournament will showcase the top four U-14 Boys and U-14 Girls Futsal teams from British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.
The U-14 Boys teams are Edmonton West South United (AB), Glen Shield Red (ON), Richmond Madrid (BC) and Langley United (BC). On the U-14 Girls side, the teams are Edmonton West South United (AB), Russell Raiders (ON), North Shore Reign (BC) and North Shore Snipers (BC). These teams all qualified in their respective regional Futsal Championships that took place earlier in the season. The tournament will follow a round-robin format and the gold-medal matches will be taking place at 14:00 and 15:00, respectively, on Sunday 15 April 2007. More
Futsal Course to be held this Weekend

The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) in coordination with the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) will be holding a two day Futsal conductor course for coaches and referees. The course begins today at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ontario from 7:00-9:00 pm and will conclude on Saturday, September 17th at the Holy Cross High School (across from the Soccer Centre) from 9:00 am -5:00 pm.
The course objective is to provide basic Futsal knowledge to the lead instructors so that they intern can teach the provincial referee and coaching instructors within their respective provinces.
Charlie Cuzzetto and Dave Roach will facilitate the course in which 18 participants from Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan have registered.

Ongaro Selects Roster For Preliminary Round Qualifier

Ottawa, Ontario Canadian Futsal Head Coach Ross Ongaro has selected a 12-player roster for a two-game preliminary round CONCACAF Futsal Qualifier in Panama City, Panama.
The two matches will be played on May 21st and 22nd with the winners of the two-game/total goal series advancing to the CONCACAF Final Round (July 23-31 in Herédia, Costa Rica). Five of the eight teams (Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Guyana, Cuba, and Costa Rica (host)) have already advanced to the Final Round.
"I'm extremely pleased with the roster that has been selected to represent Canada in Panama for the Futsal CONCACAF Qualifier for Costa Rica," said Ongaro. We have selected a group of players with both youth and experience that will work together very well." More
Dates confirmed for 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship in Chinese Taipei

The official dates for the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship have been finalised. The tournament will run from 21 November to 5 December 2004 in two venues and pit 16 of the planet's top powers against one another in a hunt for the coveted global crown.
The five-a-side game's fifth FIFA World Championship will be hard-pressed to match the excitement and verve of the previous competition held in Guatemala four years ago. In the fourth-ever World Futsal finals Spain ended Brazil's greedy domination of the indoor game with a fine run of form that brought to an end the Auriverde's scintillating streak of three world titles on the trot. Canadian Futsal Team to Play Panama in Two-game Preliminary Series

Ottawa, Ontario Canada's Futsal team will play panama in a two-game series on May 21st and 22nd at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City.
I'm very excited to get the games underway, said head coach Ross Ongaro. I've spent a year and a half scouting across Canada, and I'm happy with the skill level we have to represent Canada.
The winner of this series will join the other two-game North/Central Preliminary Series winners of Honduras against the United States and El Salvador against Mexico (to be completed by 31 May 2004) and three representatives from the Caribbean Football Union Tournament in Trinidad & Tobago (19-23 April), along with Cuba, and the host, Costa Rica in the eight-team CONCACAF Final Round in July that will qualify two nations to the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship from 22 November 12 December in Chinese Taipei. CONCACAF unveils Caribbean Zone Futsal Preliminary Qualification fixtures

CONCACAF unveiled today the complete fixtures for the 2004 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Preliminary Futsal Qualification Tournament from 19-23 April at the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago.
The CFU Futsal Preliminary event, which is sponsored by the Hindu Credit Union Group of Companies, will advance three nations to the 2004 CONCACAF Final Round Qualification scheduled for July in Costa Rica. More
Ongaro To Scout GTA

Canadian Futsal Head Coach Ross Ongaro will be scouting for players in the Toronto, ON region on Friday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 3rd.
Ongaro will be holding an Identification Camp on the campus of York University on both days hoping to identify players that will bolster the Canadian Futsal Team prior to the first round of CONCACAF Qualifying in May 2004.
Coaches who would like to recommend players to Ongaro are encouraged to do so by email: rossongaro@hotmail.com or by fax to the CSA offices in Ottawa 613-237-1516. Players may also contact Ongaro but should be able to provide a detailed account of their playing history in order to justify an invitation. More
Field set for CONCACAF Preliminary Futsal Qualification

The field is set after the conclusion of the 2004 CONCACAF Preliminary Futsal Qualification draw today, at the offices of the CONCACAF General Secretariat in New York City, to determine the match-ups between the North Zone and UNCAF (Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol). The draw was presided over by CONCACAF Deputy General Secretary Ted Howard.
The CONCACAF Futsal Qualification Preliminaries will have three UNCAF nations (El Salvador, Honduras, Panama) meeting three North Zone teams (Canada, Mexico, USA) in a home-and-away series that must be completed by 31 May 2004.
Series 1 will have Panama facing Canada, while Series 2, Mexico takes on El Salvador. The Series 3 match-up has the USA meeting Honduras. More

Ongaro Selects Roster for Futsal Tournament in Anaheim

Ottawa, Ontario Canada's Futsal Head Coach Ross Ongaro has selected 13-players to participate in a Futsal tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA from December 5-7. The tournament will be hosted by the US Futsal Federation. Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States will also compete in this tournament.
All four teams are preparing for next year's CONCACAF Qualification event leading to the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship in Chinese Taipei. More
