Holy Cross takes group lead; Surrey United, Hollandia Impact undefeated
It may only stand for a day, but Holy Cross is group leader after Match Day 2 of the 2012 Jubilee Trophy senior women’s competition in Winnipeg, MB. The St. John’s, NL club won 1:0 on Thursday 4 October, pulling off a victory against co-host Action FC of Winnipeg. Leslie Pope scored the winning goal in the 58th minute.
“It feels really good, even if we still have two difficult games ahead,” said Holy Cross head coach Dragan Mirkovic. “This is a very good tournament with some good teams. Even if it is for just one day, it feels really good.”

While Holy Cross has four points, North London Galaxy has three points (from a win on opening day), Royal Sélect Beauport and Suburban FC have two points each, and Action FC has no points.
In the opposite group, defending champion Surrey United and Hollandia Impact of Saskatoon have six points each after two matches. The other three teams in the group have yet to win a point. On Thursday 4 October, Surrey United won 1:0 over Edmonton Scottish while Hollandia Impact won 1:0 over Yellowknife FC. Goal scorers were Rachael Pelat for Surrey and Elizabeth Hudon for Hollandia.
