Canada Soccer looking for candidates to serve on the Board of Directors starting May 2014

The Nominations Committee of Canada Soccer's Board of Directors calls for individuals to submit names of candidates to serve on the Board commencing after the 2014 Annual General Meeting.

Canada Soccer's Board of Directors consists of 14 Directors, including a President, Vice President, six elected Directors, and six appointed or independent Directors.

The Committee is seeking qualified candidates to play a role in the stewardship of an organization in transition to a new culture that reflects values such as engagement, transparency, accountability, and other attributes representing leading edge governance.

Qualified candidates will have the skill-sets, expertise and experience necessary to help create a new national vision for soccer in Canada, leading to a legacy of success on and off the playing field.

The current call for nominations is for the following Board positions:

  • One Vice President (four-year term)
  • Two Elected Directors (three-year term)
  • One from Saskatchewan/Manitoba
  • One from Ontario
  • Two Appointed Directors (three-year term)
  • One representative from Professional Soccer

Position on Canadian Soccer Association Nominations Committee to fill

The Canadian Soccer Association is seeking to recruit one (1) qualified candidate for the position of independent member of the Nominations Committee of the Board of Directors. The individual must be able to demonstrate that he/she has professional, personal or other contacts within the corporate, business, soccer, and/or other relevant communities that will strengthen the Canada Soccer Board as it performs its governance and stewardship functions.

Individuals who are interested in serving on the Nominations Committee are asked to forward their names, together with an updated résumé and references, to Jennifer Purdy, Executive Assistant, at jpurdy@canadasoccer.com, by Friday 25 October 2013.

The deadline for submission of applications for appointed directors has been extended until 18.00 ET / 15.00 PT on Tuesday, 15 May 2012.

Candidates wishing to lodge an application are asked to please complete a Nominations Application Form, accompanied by a full résumé, and send to the attention of the Canadian Soccer Association Nominations Committee Chair, Mr. Paul Varian, at nominations@soccercan.ca.

Notice is hereby given to all members that a Special General Meeting of the Canadian Soccer Association will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 8:30 am ET at the Ottawa Convention Centre in Ottawa, Ontario to approve 2012 Constitution and By-Law amendments of the Association.

Notice is also hereby given to all members that the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Soccer Association will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 10:00 am ET at the Ottawa Convention Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.

Election process at the 2012 Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Soccer Association

In the last two years, the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) has been engaged in a process of organizational renewal, focusing specifically on its governance structures. The CSA membership has agreed that the CSA will have a governing board, which will be reduced in size to 14 members, including an elected President and Vice-President, six (6) elected Directors, and six (6) appointed Directors. The CSA’s 2012 Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held May 5, will mark the implementation of this new governing structure.
