FIFA appoints seven Canadians to Standing Committees

FIFA has appointed seven Canadian members to its various Standing Committees and other bodies for 2012-2015.

Dr. Dominic Maestracci, President of the Canadian Soccer Association, has been appointed to the Organising Committee for the Olympic Football Tournaments.

Walter Sieber, former Vice-President of the Canadian Olympic Committee and respected FIFA general coordinator, has been named to the Committee for Women’s Football and the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ and the Organising Committee for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Héctor Vergara, Canada’s longest-serving official on the FIFA List of Referees and Assistant Referees (now retired), has been appointed to the Referees Committee.

Sylvie Béliveau, Canadian Soccer Association’s Long Term Player Development Manager and one-time FIFA Women's World Cup coach, has been named to the Football Committee.

Silvana Burtini, former footballer and an honoured member of The Soccer Hall of Fame, was appointed to the Strategic Committee.

Alexandra Wrage, founder and President of TRACE and James Klotz, of Miller Thomson LLP, were named to the Independent Governance Committee.
