CONCACAF has announced the schedule for the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship, which runs 2-12 May in Ciudad Guatemala. Canada will face Panama on 2 May, Jamaica on 4 May and host Guatemala on 6 May. The opposite group - which plays 3, 5 and 7 May - features Bahamas, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and USA.
The top two teams from each group will cross over to face each other in the semi-final matches on 10 May. The two semi-final winners on 10 May plus the third-place winner on 12 May will qualify for Azerbaijan 2012.
Kick off times for the Canadian matches are 14.00 local on 2 May against Panama, 14.00 local on 4 May against Jamaica, and 16.30 local on 6 May against Guatemala. There are two matches on each day, so the other match from the same group is played at either 16.30 or 14.00 local.
This year's U-17 competitions feature players born 1995 or later. Canada has already organized several camps in preparation for this year's competition. Since last August, coach Bryan Rosenfeld has featured 35 different players in those U-17 projects. While the CONCACAF event runs 2-12 May in Guatemala, the 16-team FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup runs 22 September to 13 October in Azerbaijan.
Canada's all-time record at the CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship is seven wins, one draw and two losses. Canada finished third in 2008 and first in 2010. Both times, Canada qualified for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
